A special Christmas Eve rule breaker today, as I usually restrict width to 750px. To retain some of the detail on this one, I pushed it out to 900px.

This statue guy performs all the time downtown, standing perfectly still for long periods, occasionally breaking out some glass ball juggling trickery. He's very good.

A Halloween poker party brought out the best in Paulette, our best costume winner.

I attended the brewfest Friday afternoon and managed to take time out from the vast quantity of IPAs I was tasting to snap a few shots. Beating the sun usually means staying under the tents (which are closer to the beer), but some prefer this marvel of modern technology, the misty-thingy. Amen.

A couple days ago, Simona arrived. Simona is the sister of Gemma. Both are the daughters of my friends Tom and Mary. Both of their photos were taken within their first couple days and it is interesting to see how much they look alike at this age.

Well, I'm finally the owner of a D70. Mila from across the hall was kind enough to pose for one of the first images on the new toy. I'm not a D70 newbie, as for over 6 months I've had access to the exact same camera, but it will be nice to always have it at the ready. Gotta go out and shoot...

More fun with the lensbaby lens. This is my often guest photographer, Paul. I love the cool spots from the rain on the window. The lensbaby is fun! I may have a couple more from this batch that I'll put up soon.

Taken at our weekly poker game, this is Brian, one of our regular crazies. Would you call him? Not many of us can, as he's liable to be playing ANYTHING! Paul took this photo, but I did crop (nose removal), and color processing. The BW seemed to match the mood so much better than the color version.

I've never been a big cat person, so I treat them indifferently (kinda like they usually treat me). Of course, this means that most peoples cats take a liking to me. "What? He doesn't want to pay attention to me? What's up with that?!" This is Mila. She lives with my neighbors Paul and Areta. I wasn't going to post this photo because I wanted to try shooting her again, but who knows when that will be. So here's the first of what could be a few different cat portraits. Yes, Mila is missing half of her tail. Also, that is her natural eye color, which I let show through a desaturated layer.

Shot number two of 40. This was a lucky shot as the subject was on the move. I find it very expressive. There were two dark dogs playing and chasing a tennis ball, but their color made shooting difficult. Next time I may try some different approaches, including the flash.

In other news I've turned on the 'last 20' page, where you can browse a bit more verbosely, as well as RSS feeds, if you're into that. I'm hoping to introduce categories or searching at some point. Enjoy the new stuff and let me know if it's broken.

She looks like the saddest puppy in the world, but that wasn't really the case. She was actually quite puppy-like until I chose a wide focal length and stepped closer. I think this might be more 'inquisitive' than sad. This was taken at the Lucky Labrador brewpub, and is one of only two shots that turned out from a pile of almost 40. Clearly, I must improve my good/bad ratio.

I took this a few years ago with the Olympus while visiting my dad in Baja. Happy Birthday, Dude! I've always loved this photo, even if it isn't terribly sharp. Kind of captures the heat of the midday siesta.

I don't really like how this turned out. Probably the case of trying too hard to make a not so good photo better. Still, I like the idea, so put this up.
