More art from Mike King covering the walls of Ringler's Annex.
Another shot from this same location, besides yesterday's, can be seen here.

Went out to play go tonight, and found that they entire basement bar of Ringlers Annex had been covered in telephone pole poster art by a local artist, Mike King. The sign reads:
"These are flyers I created for shows in the Portland area over the last few years, there are a little over 200 different flyers. Many of them repeat at least once. These are not the original flyers, most of them were printed on colored paper or with colored ink. These are black and white reproductions.
Thanks to Ringlers Annex for letting me cover their place with paper and to Fritz for helping me put them up.
Thanks, Mike King

Kick Ass. Definitely check out more of Mike's stuff at his site, www.crashamerica.com.

My neighbor Phillip, todays guest photographer, recently visited a the studio of a friend that is a glass artist. These glass balls contain the ashes of the dearly departed. A very classy approach to the urn. Note that the red color depicted here is not entirely from the glass color. Rather, the ball is still glowing hot at this stage.

Yes, I know, more horrible holiday puns, but hey, I gotta try something to keep this interesting right? I originally didn't know what to think of this shot, but it has grown on me. I'm not sure what I think of photographs of other artworks. Is it fair? In windows like this they take care of lighting and making composition a little easier. Still, the only interesting way to capture this seemed like this diagonal approach.

This image made me think of http://www.portlandground.com/archives/2006/06/sidewalk_front_yard_budda.php ! I just stumbled upon your site today and I'm really enjoying looking at your pictures and remembering "hey I've been there or hey I used to live there!". I lived in downtown Portland for two years before moving back to the midwest a few months ago. I miss Portland soooooooooooo much. :o( But I'm glad I can relive my memories through your pictures!

Very nice image of the canyon. I really like the sky and how the stream leads the eye through the frame. Nicely done.

It's been too long between visits to your blog, you have some great images. That's a very creative gardener and your capture is fantastic.

I really like this shot - there's a great contrast between the sharp light trails on the right, and the more mellow blurring on the left. well done

Not usually Rob, but I do take requests. And must admit that sometimes it takes me a while to get to them (since I have to reprocess them).

Wow! Very nice shot. You have some great pix here man!!! I am just wondering on this particular shot how you get the lights and no cars... I see the camera settings under the title but I'm not a photographer so it doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Freakin awesome!
Makes me want to bust out my old Cannon AE-1. And I would if it hadn't pissed me off so many times! (realizing that I really need to stick with the disposable click boxes!)

I always like to see pictures taken by other people, on the other side of the country, and know exactly where it was taken.

HA! I want that car! I've been looking for pictures all morning cuz I wanna paint my combi (in four years, I'll be out of school and old enough to drive a car so that's when I'll get one ....) just like that!

He's been around for a few years I believe, but these are my first shots of him. You might be remembering someone else?
I'm not sure if he calls himself statue man, but others do I believe. I found an article about him versus the City of Portland, which you can read here.

This statue was there last year too, wasn't he? Seems like you had some pictures of him before.
Does he call himself Statue Man? I think of him as a robot man, but I've never seen him in action - he's usually just standing there when I go by.

This is an interesting composition. You've handled the silver body paint well, a tough material to photograph by itself, and the reflection captured in the performer's sunglasses has me asking what does he see? Wish there wasn't such a bright white diamond in the top middle of the frame from the crossing of the awnings--makes my eye go right to it.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I'm glad to see you checking back even if I don't post often enough :-).
